Our Pre-College Parent Conversation was full of insights, guidance, and inspiration for parents navigating the pre-college path.

At the 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, we shared something we truly believe many families need to hear:⁣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲-𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴.⁣

At MSFC, we created a simple framework to help parents understand 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗯𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 — 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲.⁣

It was designed to reduce stress, offer clarity, and create a sense of community — so everyone left feeling supported, not overwhelmed.

OUR FRAMEWORK

At MSFC, we created a simple framework to help parents understand 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗯𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 — 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲.⁣

Using this framework, we guided our conversation with the experts, exploring what really matters at each stage of the journey.⁣

One idea kept coming back throughout the evening:⁣ 𝗘𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗺, 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗷𝗼𝘆.⁣

This framework is part of our Pre-College Guide, which we shared with the families who attended the event. It includes helpful information and resources designed to help families navigate this path with clarity and confidence.

HOSTED BY VICKY KENNY

I created this forum not only as a community organizer, but as a mom of a child in 11th grade, currently navigating this journey myself.

I know how overwhelming these years can feel — the timelines, the questions, the pressure, and the constant sense of “Are we doing this right?”

This stage is not only about applications or test scores. It is about guiding our children through a major life transition, while also learning how to trust, support, and let them grow.

My intention for this evening is simple: to create a space where parents feel informed, supported, and connected — and leave with clarity instead of stress.

You don’t have to navigate this alone.
